تمكّنت بلجيكا من التغلب على البرازيل بنتيجة 2-1 في المباراة الثانية من دور الثمانية ضمن نهائيات كأس العالم روسيا 2018 FIFA في كازان.
في الشوط الأول، تحكمت كتيبة السيليساو في مجريات اللعب، وحصلت على أول فرصة في المباراة عبر تياجو سيلفا الذي ارتطمت كرته بالقائم. وفي المقابل، اعتمد الشياطين الحمر على الهجمات المرتدة. وتقدم الفريق البلجيكي في النتيجة من ركلة ركنية، حيث حاول فرناندينيو، الذي عوض كاسيميرو في مباراة اليوم، إبعاد الكرة لكنها استقرت في مرماه. أما الهدف البلجيكي الثاني فيذكر بالهجمة المرتدة المتقنة التي نفذها الفريق ضد اليابان. وكان كيفين دي بروين هو الذي أنهى هذه المرة الهجمة العكسية السريعة بتسديدة رائعة.
وفي الشوط الثاني، حاول ممثل أمريكا الجنوبية مضاعفة ضغطهم وارتكن أبناء بلجيكا إلى الدفاع. لكن الكرة كانت تصطدم في كل مرة بأحد اللاعبين البلجيكيين أو يتصدى لها الحارس ثيبو كورتوا. وقد أهدر باولينيو فرصة سانحة للتسجيل، حيث لم ينجح في وضع الكرة التي ارتدت من كورتوا داخل المرمى الفارغ. وكان ريناتو أوجوستو البديل أكثر فعالية من زميله عندما استفاد من تمريرة رائعة من كوتينيو لتقليص النتيجة بكرة رأسية. واندفع بعدها البرازيليون إلى الأمام، ليرتفع التشويق أكثر. إلا أن كورتوا نجح في الحفاظ على تفوق فريقه، لتتأهل بذلك بلجيكا إلى نصف النهائي للمرة الثانية في تاريخ مشاركاتها في العرس العالمي.
